Advanced Rifle Training

News From HQ | 18 June 2012

The Letaka Safaris guides are once again going through their advanced rifle handling (ARH) drills. This training course which is run under the auspices of Okavango Guiding School is a critical part of qualifying our guides to safely lead guests on walking safaris. All aspects of this training are based on the rigorous FGASA (Field Guides Association of Southern Africa) standards which are widely regarded to be among the best in Africa.

Our guides have already gone through this training but every three months we like do a quick refresher to make sure that they are still on top of their game. Letaka Safaris is the only mobile safari company in Botswana to insist that all our guides pass this training as a minimum standard.

As Botswana works it’s way towards a new licensing system where all guides will require a qualification to conduct walking safaris, we are ensuring that all guides that pass through our doors will be fully qualified when the new system is implemented. More importantly, we are 100% certain that our guests are in the safest of hands when they are out in the bush!
